A village of stairways and stone
Brienno is one of the smallest villages on the western shore: the old centre is a maze of stone lanes and stairways that go down to the water, with no cars. The road stays up above; down here there are only houses, small gardens and boats.
It is quiet, and from the water you see the whole village climbing up from the shore.

The Nesso waterfall, from the right side
Right in front of Brienno, on the other shore, the Nesso gorge drops into the lake under an old stone bridge. From the land you see it from above; from the boat you come in close and look up at it. It takes a few minutes from Brienno pier.
