The quiet heart of the western shore
Carate and Urio are two small villages joined into one, between Moltrasio and Laglio. Old stone houses, a few hotels and holiday homes, and the lake right below the road.
If you are staying here, you are in the middle of the most famous stretch of the first basin: Villa Passalacqua and Gianni Versace's villa to the south, George Clooney's villa and the Nesso waterfall to the north.

How to get to the pier
Bruno meets you at the Carate Urio public pier, or at your hotel's dock where it is allowed. From Como the C10 bus along the western shore stops in the village in about half an hour. Tell us where you are staying and we tell you the easiest way.

What fits in one hour
In one hour you can go south to Villa Passalacqua, Versace's villa and Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, or north to Clooney's villa and the Nesso waterfall. With three hours you reach Villa del Balbianello and Bellagio.
